Federal Carbon Tax
Please note that effective January 1, 2020, all natural gas consumed in the Province of Alberta will be subject to a Federal Carbon Tax. The tax will start at $20 per tonne of carbon dioxide and is expected to increase by $10/tonne every April 1 until 2022.
Due to the complicated nature of this legislation, we request that you refer all questions to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA):

While there are exemptions for farmers using gasoline and diesel, there are no exemptions for natural gas use. Unlike the Provincial levy, the Federal Carbon Tax will not exempt First Nations.
There will be an exemption certificate for Greenhouses, providing 80% relief. Greenhouse Operators must fill out the Exemption Certificate and provide it to the Utility to be eligible. The certificate is available at:

NEW GAS SERVICE
To start the application for new gas service to your property, we will need a copy of your land title. This is required to complete the contract as proof of ownership.

NEW METER INSTALLATION
For our Members' safety, SANG adheres to the requirements based on the CSA B-149.1-05 Gas Code and Alberta Municipal Affairs for installing meters.
For a meter hang, you will need to obtain a gas permit from your local municipality.
All gas lines venting and appliances must all be to code.

Ste. Anne Natural Gas Co-op is the largest rural gas distribution system in Alberta. Ste. Anne Gas began delivering gas in late 1972 with a membership of 731 and installed 344 miles of plastic pipe. Today, we service over 6700 natural gas members, have a service area of 3350 square kilometres, and we maintain over 4500 kilometres of gas pipeline.
