GAS LEAKS
IDENTIFY THE GAS ODOR
Natural Gas is odorized by a chemical called Mercaptan which adds a distinctive rotten egg or sulphur like smell to help you detect any leaks.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE A LEAK
If you smell gas or hear the flow of escaping gas, please follow these steps immediately:
1. Don't smoke, light matches, operate electrical switches, use telephones, or create any other source of ignition.
2. Leave the building immediately; leaving the door open and any windows that may already be open.
3. Turn your gas off at the meter if it is safe to do so.
4. Call the 24-hour emergency line
780-967-2246 or 1-800-290-5491.
DO NOT use a phone of any kind near where you can smell gas.
